Happy ending for two more rescue dogs from Croatia

Maya (black) got to move in with her very own family this morning. And Paula (white) was also picked up by her family from us today.

In total, four dogs found their forever homes in a short space of time: Lilly in Graz, Maya with friends of Lara, Paula near the Hockenheimring and Celin in Sachsen-Anhalt. Through lucky circumstances and wonderful people, we were able to make these adoptions happen.

We wish you all a wonderful time with your new companions and wish the dogs all the best in their new homes with their very own humans. Settle in well and have amazing adventures together in the future. We're so happy to have been a small part of the journey to your new home. All the best to you!

The story of Joesy

The story of Joesy

You were given up while heavily pregnant. You were supposed to stay with me for just one night because the shelter had already closed and we wanted to have you checked by the vet first. It ended up being two nights before we brought you to Zadar on 2 September.

They set up a lovely quarantine room for you right away – and a day later even an entire container. This is where you got to settle in and build a nest for your little ones. I named you Joesy because on the day you were given up, my friend Joesy was celebrating her birthday.

On 5 September I visited you in the evening and you showed me your favourite cuddle spots. On 6 September, early in the morning, you became a mother to five tiny babies. Sadly, only two survived.

You looked after those two like a lioness and defended them from everyone. It took several days before you trusted your carers enough to let them near the little ones without worry.

Today the two of them are lively, plump, have opened their eyes and are taking their first steps. All three are still looking for a home.

The mother Joesy is probably not yet three years old, super gentle and calm. She loves sniffing out mice and enjoys cooked chicken. She is an Istrian Hound.

The two little ones (brown = girl and white = boy) will be looking for their forever home in 6 weeks. Both will likely resemble their mother.

If you're interested, please get in touch with us, contact @jenny_lier on Instagram or reach out to @zadarskiazil – there she goes by the name Bina.

A big thank you to Hagebau in Hettstedt

A big thank you to Hagebau in Hettstedt

Together with the staff, we were able to rescue three full shopping trolleys of dog food and cat food that had been set aside due to its best-before date.

Instead of ending up in the bin, it's now helping where it's desperately needed! The food made its way to Croatia, supporting the animal welfare efforts on the ground.

It arrived at Danijel's animal station (Shepherd Biograd) and also supports Marija and Milka's cat care work.

You can combine a holiday with animal welfare wonderfully – soak up some sun while doing good at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who makes campaigns like this possible!
